DRAWING... is the first step in everything I do and the foundation of my art practice.  It might be a doodle on a piece of junk mail, or a rough composition in a sketchbook, or a tiny pencil rendering in the margins of whatever I'm reading (of course I only draw in books that belong to me!) ... in any case, it's the first move toward translating an idea into visual form. Occasionally those initial scribblings become the basis for larger drawings.  Sometimes they complete the journey from rough sketch to painting or print. Just as often they end up stashed in a book somewhere, ready to reawaken an idea when I come across them weeks or months or even years later.
